“ 911 “
Police Quickly
One hot spring afternoon in 1992
, Michael was driving through Beverly Hills. He stood by the side of the road
and called 911* but they told him to call a garage, not the police. What was he
going to do? Just then a man drove past and saw the famous singer. He stopped
and offered to help him.
Michael met twelve – year – old
Jordie Chandler and his mother , and took Jordie ’s telephone number. He
promised that he would call him, and he did.
They quickly became friends, and a few weeks later, Jordie, his mother
and sister came and stayed at Neverland for a while. It was certainly unusual
for an adult pop star to want to be friends with children, but most people
believed that there were no darker reasons.
